In general, the resources of this gem are plenty, But one of the countries where has the most resources of this gem in different colors and designs is Iran, it can be found to some extent on the shores of the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf or on the bed of most rivers in Iran. The city of Namin in Ardabil is home to one of the largest mines of this mineral in the world.

This gem exists and is produced in Uruguay, Brazil, Italy, India, China, Mexico, Madagascar, Egypt, Scotland, USA, Canada and Germany. In the US state of Oregon, there is a type of this gem known as the seed of the storm, with grooved outer surfaces and sometimes a stellar inner shape. Brazilian types are also great for engraving.
